Transit WKND is your student’s first step into Student Ministry, and it’s something you and your family won’t want to miss. Designed for rising 6th graders and their families, Transit WKND is all about making the move from elementary to middle school feel exciting, welcoming, and clear.
Taking place alongside Promotion Sunday, this is your chance to step into Student Ministry, meet the Student Team, and get a firsthand look at what’s ahead. Students will begin to connect with their leaders, have fun, and experience the heart of our ministry, while parents receive important details on communication, key dates ahead, and help on how to navigate the next 7 years of their student’s life.
Whether you’re brand new or just stepping into a new season, Transit WKND will help make Student Ministry feel like home from day one.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Transit WKND?

Transit WKND is a retreat-style weekend designed to help incoming 6th graders and their parents confidently transition into Christ Community Students. While it has the feel of a retreat, everyone heads home at the end of each day.

When does Transit WKND take place?

Transit WKND spans three days:

  • Friday (6:00–8:00 PM): Dinner, our first session together, and separate time for parents and students.
  • Saturday (11:00 AM–3:15 PM): A second session, lunch, games, and fun activities. Parents attend the beginning of the day before students spend the afternoon with their small groups.
  • Sunday (10:00–11:00 AM): Promotion Sunday! Students join their new Middle School Small Groups for the very first time.

Be sure to check out the full schedule above for all the details.

Do parents attend?

Yes! We ask that at least one parent (or both, if possible) attend.

Parents will participate alongside their student during key parts of the weekend, including Friday evening and the beginning of Saturday. There will also be dedicated time for parents while students hang out with their small group leaders, giving both groups an opportunity to connect and prepare for this new season.

Can siblings come?

To help make this a meaningful milestone, we ask that siblings not attend. We want this weekend to be a special experience focused on you and your incoming middle school student.

What will my student be doing?

Students will meet their future small group leaders, make new friends, enjoy games and activities, hear biblical teaching, and become familiar with what Sundays and Wednesdays look like in Christ Community Students.

What should parents expect?

Transit WKND isn’t just for students—it’s for parents, too. You’ll meet our Student Ministry team, hear our vision for discipling students, learn what to expect during the middle school years, and discover how you can partner with us as your student begins this exciting new chapter.

Is food provided?

Yes! Dinner will be provided on Friday evening, and lunch will be provided on Saturday.

How much does it cost?

Absolutely nothing! Transit WKND is completely FREE.

Who is Transit WKND for?

Transit WKND is specifically for incoming 6th grade students and their parent(s) or guardian(s) who are getting ready to move into Christ Community Students.

Still have questions?

We’d love to help! If you have any questions before the weekend, feel free to reach out. We’d be happy to answer your questions by email or schedule a phone call. We can’t wait to welcome your family to Christ Community Students!

You won't want to miss this WKND!
