About Community Groups

At Christ Community, our groups help people become more like Jesus by creating a space to gather regularly in gospel-centered community for the purpose of discipleship, community, mission, and multiplication.

Community

We were not created to experience life alone. Groups fill the vital role within our church of allowing our members to know others and to be known by others. When you join a group, you can expect to meet regularly with the same people, open up and get real with one another, and do life together.

And all who believed were together and had all things in common.  Acts 2:44

Discipleship

Christians should seek to look more like Jesus. And that’s exactly what discipleship is! Groups accomplish this by being rooted in God’s Word in their discussion, accountability, and application. Groups are marked by being rooted in God’s Word, praying consistently, having sermon-based discussions, and creating space for accountability within the group.

And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. Acts 2:42

Mission

As Christians, we are called to share the gospel with the lost. The early church was marked by their love for others through service and sharing the gospel. At Christ Community, our groups are called to embody this same missional mindset through intentional service, evangelistic zeal, and gracious hospitality.

And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. Acts 2:45

Multiplication

We believe that when the gospel takes root in a place, it bears fruit. Our desire for groups is that they would be a place where future leaders are formed and sent to launch new groups that reach further and deeper within the community in order to reach the lost with the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also. 2 Timothy 2:2

Our groups meet all across the Greater Lake Norman/North Charlotte area. In an effort to make groups accessible to as many people as possible, we offer both off- and on-campus groups that meet mornings, afternoons, and evenings. To find a community group near you, please access the Groups Directory.

What if I have children?

Many of our groups offer childcare. Check out our Find a Group page and use the filter to find groups who offer childcare to find a group that works for your family! If you have questions about childcare in a group setting, please feel free to contact the group leader or anyone in our adult discipleship department.

Do I need to be a member of Christ Community to join a group?

No! We believe that spiritual growth happens best when the people of God, Word of God, and Spirit of God are all together. That’s why we created Community Groups. Whether you are a first-time guest or a long-time member, we want to encourage you to dive into a Community Group.

Who will lead my group?
Your group will be led by a member of Christ Community who has shown evidence of understanding key tenets of the Christian faith, along with an ability to apply the gospel to the lives of those around them.
How does someone become a group leader?

To let us know you’re interested in becoming a group leader, let us know by completing the group leader application. When you do, someone from our Adult Discipleship Team will reach out to follow up with you on next steps.
